Our village comprises of 171 apartments, which we think is ‘just right.’ The village is big enough to sustain varied interest groups and a raft of amenities, yet small enough that neighbours are familiar faces, and you won’t get lost in the crowd. Awatere’s boutique size means it’s easy to navigate around the village and you can have both the feel of being a part of a community whilst still feeling a connection to the surrounding suburb.

All of our apartments, whether existing or brand-new, have been finished in a warm and inviting palette with quality fittings, from the stone benchtop to the tiled bathroom, right down to the easy-to-hold handles on cupboards and drawers. Apartment living certainly has its perks – enjoy year-round comfort thanks to a heat-pump, insulation and ventilation.   

Awatere’s community centre is the hub of the village and the heart of the action, with versatile spaces for organic conversation, organised entertainment and solo pursuits. With comfortable seating, specialised equipment and tasteful décor, care has been taken to create facilities that are not just appealing but also functional. There’s a great mix of indoor and outdoor areas to enjoy, providing a range of diversions to fill your day without having to leave the comfort of the village. 

Whether it’s being able to bring your favourite chair or having a comfortable space to entertain visitors, our Care Suites have that all-important extra room to accommodate the little things that can help you feel more at home. You can choose from a studio layout or spacious suite with a separate bedroom and living space, with all rooms featuring your own balcony. A large ensuite and kitchenette allow for added privacy and a sense of independence.  

Shortly after you move in, our clinical and leisure team will meet with you to determine the factors that are vital to maintaining your well-being. Your personalised plan will detail not only your medical needs, but also the things that are important for your mental and spiritual health. Be it dietary requirements or your favourite activities, we’ll take into consideration your preferences where we can, to help you feel at ease.

We’re fortunate to have a fantastic team on board to help keep things ticking here at Awatere. Whether you want to find out what the Chef has on the menu for lunch, would like to book a room for a birthday celebration, or need a maintenance person to hang a picture - our staff are here to help. You’ll be glad to know there is a Registered Nurse rostered on 24/7, and we are lucky to have a Nurse Practitioner onsite typically five times a week for timely medical appointments.
